Messaging Terms

How text messages and emails from our systems work — for the businesses we build them for, and for the people who receive them.

Last updated: September 17, 2026

Got a text and want it to stop? Reply STOP to that message and it stops immediately — you do not need to read the rest of this page. For email, use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the message or our unsubscribe page.

Who is actually messaging you

AM Builder builds and runs messaging systems on behalf of local businesses — plumbers, HVAC companies, clinics, restaurants, contractors. When you get a text or email from one of these systems, it comes from that business, in their name, about work they have done for you or an enquiry you made with them. AM Builder is the company that operates the system in the background.

If you are not sure which business a message came from, reply to it and ask, or email support@ambuilder.ca and we will tell you.

What kinds of messages go out

  • Replies and confirmations — an answer to a call or enquiry you made, or a confirmation of a booking.
  • Appointment reminders — before a visit you have scheduled.
  • Follow-ups on an open quote or enquiry — typically a short sequence, then it stops.
  • Review requests — once, after a job is finished.
  • Invoice and payment reminders — about money owed to that business.
  • Reactivation offers — an occasional offer from a business you have previously bought from.

Consent

Messages go only to people who have a relationship with the business sending them — you contacted them, booked with them, bought from them, or gave them your number for this purpose. In Canada this is governed by CASL, and our clients are responsible for having consent for the contacts on their list.

Before a campaign is sent, we screen the list for anyone who has opted out or who should not be contacted, and the business reviews and approves the exact wording. Nothing is sent to a purchased, rented, scraped, or harvested list. If a client asks us to do that, we decline.

How to stop

  • Text: reply STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT to any message. You will get one confirmation, and then nothing further.
  • Help: reply HELP to any message for contact information.
  • Email: use the unsubscribe link in the message, or our unsubscribe page.
  • Either way: email support@ambuilder.ca and we will remove you.

Opt-outs are honoured across the business that messaged you, not just for one campaign. Opting out of marketing does not stop a message you specifically asked for, such as a confirmation of an appointment you just booked.

How often

Message frequency depends on the business and the program. Transactional messages happen when the event does — a booking, a job, an invoice. Follow-up sequences are short and finite. Marketing and reactivation campaigns are occasional, not ongoing. No program is designed to message you repeatedly with no end.

Costs and carriers

Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages, and delivery is not guaranteed — carrier filtering, network issues, or a changed number can all interrupt it.

Your information

Phone numbers and email addresses used in these programs are handled as described in our Privacy Policy. They are not sold, rented, or shared with advertisers, and they are not reused across clients.

If you are our client

When we run messaging for you, you agree that:

  • you have the legal right and the necessary consent to contact everyone on the list you give us;
  • you will review and approve the message copy before anything sends;
  • you will not ask us to message people who have opted out, or to obscure who is sending;
  • opt-out handling stays switched on, on every message, without exception.

These obligations also appear in our Terms of Service. We will pause a program rather than send something that breaches them.
